The chaotic ‘sunrise’ parade in Grayton Beach smells like sunscreen before 8 am. And later on in Panama City Beach, the Gulf’s biggest fireworks are to blame for sore necks and too many oohs and ahhs.
Well, that’s just a part of what’s so grand about the Fourth on 30A. The wide range of chaos and fun pretty much makes this the greatest show in America.
Are we exaggerating? Let’s find out.
FOURTH OF JULY 30A AT A GLANCE
- Best fireworks → Seaside / Panama City Beach / WaterColor
- Best parade → Grayton Beach / Rosemary Beach
- Best for families → Rosemary Beach / WaterColor
- Best for energy → Seaside
- Best less-crowded alternative → Alys Beach / Baytowne Wharf
GRAYTON BEACH
Annual 4th of July Parade
📍 The Red Bar 🕗 8:30 AM
Part neighborhood tradition, part organized chaos. And entirely wonderful. Golf carts, bikes, Jeeps, kids, dogs… they all get decorated. There’s no registration or float committee. Just show up, join the procession, and go. This is Grayton Beach at its finest: real, low-key, and a little weird.
Parking: Okay, just saying ‘arrive early’ seems obvious, but seriously: the streets are narrow and fill up fast, so arriving before 8 am helps secure a good spot. Parking at AJ’s or around the town center may be an option.
After Party: Grayton Beach has a few fun places, and they’re all in, including AJs. Enjoy a patriotic brunch and live music. But have a backup plan. Or grab something to go and head to the beach for a feet-in-the-sand picnic.
WATERCOLOR
July 3 – Kids Parade & Family Celebration
📍 Cerulean Park → Marina Park 🕙 10 AM decorating | 10:30 AM ride-off
July 3 is open to everyone. Kids decorate bikes and wagons at Cerulean Park, then move on to Marina Park for a kids’ parade and family activities. It’s relaxed and pretty, the kind of thing kids talk about for the rest of the trip.
July 4 – Beach Club Celebration (Private)
📍 The Beach Club 🎧 All-day DJ, BBQ, and drinks. 🕙 8:30 PM: Fireworks
The 4th at the Beach Club? Oh my! Sure, it’s a private event, open only to WaterColor guests and residents, but an Oversee rental in WaterColor gets you in. You’ll dig the poolside vibes, a DJ, BBQ, and fireworks around 8:30. An elevated, chill way to spend the evening. Less crowded, more cool.
Best viewing spots: If you have Beach Club access, boom! Front row without the crowds. A nearby beach access or two leads you to solid fireworks views.
After Party: Keep it simple. A slow bike ride back, a snack in hand. Or a low-key night on the porch fits the neighborhood vibe.
SEASIDE
Independence Day Celebration
📍Seaside Amphitheater + beachfront
🕘 9 AM-Noon: Morning Block Party
Start your day with balloon animals and stilt walkers. The block party is on, with kids’ activities, live performers, and food vendors. High energy, family-friendly fun, even for adults, who claim to be there just for the coffee and the people-watching.
🕗 8:30 PM: Live Music + Fireworks
This is the main draw for all of 30A. An evening concert rolls into a fireworks show that lights up the Gulf, and draws the biggest crowd of any 30A event all year. It’s worth it, but parking is iffy, the green fills up early, and you will be shoulder-to-shoulder with people who had the same idea.
Expect people: Big crowds, high energy, all-day momentum. It’s the busiest scene on Seaside. Super fun, just not low-key.
Don’t miss this: Sunset hits right before the fireworks, don’t rush past it. It’s one of the best parts of the day here.
After party: Keep expectations realistic, most places are packed. A late beach walk or a relaxed bike ride (with fun lights) for the ride home.
ROSEMARY BEACH
July 4th Celebration: Sunrise to Starlight
📍Western Green + Town Center
🕢 7:30 AM: Donuts & bike decorating 🕣 8:45 AM: Patriotic Bike Parade, Family field day
Donuts at 7:30. Bikes in red, white, and blue by 8:45. And the parade starts around 8:30–9. It’s the kind of small-town Fourth that used to be more common. Small and charming, the whole neighborhood shows up.
🕓 Evening lawn party: Face painting, music, & outdoor movie
No fireworks? Yep, that’s on purpose, and the right call if you’ve got little ones who don’t love the boom. The evening brings lawn games, live music, and an outdoor movie. A great option for anyone who’d rather end the night on a porch instead of fighting traffic out of Seaside.
The vibe: More poise than noise, a slower pace with more intention. Very nice and very walkable. And distinctly Rosemary.
ALYS BEACH
4th of July Concert and Fireworks Show
📍Alys Beach Amphitheatre. 🕣 6 PM: Concert 🕣 9 PM: Fireworks
Quiet and beautiful. And without needing to make a big deal about it. That’s how Alys Beach does the Fourth, the same way it does everything. Enjoy the free event, with food and beverage options, a live concert on the green, all followed by fireworks.
Have a seat. Enjoy the show(s). Just bring a blanket or a low-back chair.
Stroll: Seriously. Take a glass of rosé and walk through Alys Beach at night. One of the most striking places on the Gulf Coast, especially on the Fourth.
BAYTOWNE WHARF (NEAR 30A)
Red, White and Baytowne
📍 Miramar Beach 🕘 7:00 PM: Live music, activities 🕘 9:15 PM: Fireworks
Technically just outside 30A, Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin is worth knowing about, especially if Seaside crowds sound a bit much. The village hosts live music, kids’ activities, and fireworks. Parking is easier, the vibe is festive without being overwhelming, and the fireworks over the bay are legitimately impressive.
PANAMA CITY BEACH
Star-Spangled Spectacular
📍The Piers 🕘 9:00 PM: Russell-Fields + M.B. Miller Piers
It’s showtime! If big is what you’re after, Panama City Beach delivers, firing from two locations (Russell-Fields Pier and M.B. Miller Pier) simultaneously, making it one of the largest fireworks shows on the Gulf Coast.
Best viewing: The beach itself is your best bet. Stake out a spot between the two piers for the full dual-launch effect. Earlier is better, the beach fills up well before showtime.
Traffic reality: It’s real, and it’s post-show too. Take extra time if you’re driving back to 30A, or book a PCB Oversee rental and just walk to the beach. Way easier. Way dreamier.
HOW TO PLAN YOUR FOURTH OF JULY ON 30A
Pick one fireworks show and commit.
Seaside, WaterColor, and PCB all have fireworks shows that overlap in timing. Trying to catch two of them usually means missing both. Pick your spot and commit. Enjoying comes next.
Start the morning early.
The Grayton Beach and Rosemary Beach parades both begin before 9 AM. Free up your afternoon for the beach. Then lunch. Then a nap before the evening festivities.
Plan dinner before you’re hungry.
Seaside on the Fourth is packed. If you’re going, plan where you’re eating in advance, any restaurant with outdoor seating will have a wait. If a quieter night sounds better, Rosemary Beach or Alys Beach are great alternatives.
Bike or golf cart. Not your car.
Parking on the Fourth is a contact sport. Two wheels or a golf cart will get you there faster, save you from a long walk, and honestly make the whole day more fun. Many Oversee rentals include bikes or golf carts. Check before you pack the car.
A JULY 4TH SAMPLE ITINERARY (1-DAY PLAN)
Morning
Catch the Grayton Beach or Rosemary Beach parade (both are done by 9:30 am). Grab breakfast nearby before the lines get long. Whenever possible, reserve your seats ahead of time.
Afternoon
Head to the beach. This is prime Gulf time: the water’s warm, the crowds haven’t fully descended yet, and you’ve still got energy. Lunch, a swim, a smile, maybe a nap.
Evening, pick one
- Seaside → if you want the full energy, the big crowd, and the classic 30A fireworks experience
- WaterColor → if you’re staying there or want a more balanced, family-friendly evening
- Panama City Beach → if you want the biggest show on the Gulf and don’t mind a bigger scene
WHERE TO STAY FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY
On the Fourth, proximity matters big time. Walking distance to fireworks is a huge quality-of-life upgrade.
Imagine no parking, no shuttle lines, no watching the show from a traffic jam. A rental that puts you close to the action or close to the beach changes the whole experience.
Oversee has gorgeous, spacious vacation homes across all the great spots. If you’re still locking in your Fourth of July plans, it’s worth browsing what’s available sooner rather than later. Holiday weekends book fast!
