Where change is overrated. On the western end of 30A, Dune Allen Beach has a distinctly Old Florida feel. Think cinder-block cottages, weathered beach houses on stilts, towering pines, and coastal dune lakes. Relaxed, residential, and comfortable doing things its own way. Some things are better left alone.
THE PEACEFUL SIDE
Dune Allen sits between three of South Walton’s rare coastal dune lakes: Allen, Oyster, and Stallworth, a global rarity found in only a handful of places on Earth. Add the Gulf, and you’ve got no shortage of ways to get wet. Easygoing neighbor Gulf Place is just down the road, keeping you close to plenty of 30A goodness.
FOLLOW THE ALLENS
Eric and Jean Allen began developing the area in 1946. In a 1992 newspaper interview, Jean explained that Eric’s mother liked the name Dunnellon, a Florida town, and its similarity to “Dune Allen” helped inspire the name. The family went on to shape the community we know today. It’s come a long way. Just not too long.

Slow. Down. Take. It. Easy. Dune Allen runs on a laid-back, nature-first pace, so activities aim toward a big day of chill. Bask, swim, hike, paddleboard, bike, or put your feet up. All solid options.
GO WEST. GET WILD.
Just west, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park delivers 3.2 miles of beach, with the park’s namesake dune rising 25 feet above sea level. More than 15 miles of marked trails wind through pines, dunes, wetlands, and past coastal dune lakes including Campbell and Morris. The tram takes visitors from the day-use area to the beach, while the trail network offers plenty more to explore. A little wild. A lot worth exploring.
