30A! What? You’ve never been?
Well, prepare yourself for stunning scenery, charming towns, eclectic shops, and perhaps the real reason you’re here, some of the tastiest eateries and fine dining anywhere. But 30A is more than perfect beaches and cute boutiques. It’s home to a delightful mix of good-hearted locals, who open their rental
One such group, a thriving example of hard work and dedicated hospitality, is the nimble teams of specialists at Oversee. Seasoned guest ambassadors, they provide their customers the respite they yearn for. When a family unwinds in a charming Oversee sanctuary, certain things are expected. And culinary excellence is no exception. Here’s just a sliver of what to expect along 30A at some incredible restaurants. We love top-10 lists. But let’s go with five. No, six.
TOP 6 PLACES TO EAT ALONG 30A.
FOOW has many magical extras, like, the name, for instance, an acronym of its former moniker, Fish Out of Water. The simple, yet creative dishes are always fresh, and served at brunch, midday, and dinner. With excellent mixologists and an amazing selection, the bar circles inside-out, to the impressive patio. The sunset views are, you guessed it, breathtaking.
La Crema was inspired by the tapas and chocolate shops of Madrid and Barcelona. The tapas is simply delish. Try the brussel sprouts or the serrano-wrapped figs. Or just eat chocolate all night. The appropriately named “OMG” has whipped espresso cream sandwiched by two triple chocolate chip cookies (OMG!). And chocolate-covered bacon? Really? Really.
Consistently at the top of must-go lists, Cafe´ Thirty-A is reservation only. The brief but excellent menu is updated frequently and may include quail with grits and oxtail wontons. Mmmm… oxtail wontons! And with four-star service, Café Thirty-A doesn’t just rhyme, it’s quite literally a destination in itself.
Although an appropriate name for a rock band, the Firecracker Grouper is a favorite among South Walton locals, as is the Panko Red Snapper. For the freshest seafood, fine meats, and sensational succulent sushi (say that three times fast), Basmati’s Asian Cuisine is unmatched. Enjoy the night in a sleek, sophisticated setting, or dine outside on the lakeside porch. Very nice.
Here’s one for the ages: A man named Mimmo fell in love with Destin after a vacation in the area and decided to open an Italian restaurant called… wait for it…. Mimmo’s! It eventually won “Best of Emerald Coast” twice among many other awards too numerous to mention. You’ll also love the second location in Blue Mountain Beach. Ciao!
The crab cakes at Red Bar are the best, and if that doesn’t get ya, the blackened grouper on a grits bacon-and-cheese square, with spinach in between, well, just get over there and taste it, you’ll see. With live jazz music inside and a bonfire outside, go for the party. But stay for the excellent food and the funky Grayton vibe.
