Miramar Beach, Florida, is set to host the 23rd Annual Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic (ECBC) at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort from June 18 to 22, 2025. This event is renowned as one of the most exciting big-game fishing tournaments globally, offering high-stakes sportfishing, family-friendly activities, and vibrant summer energy in Northwest Florida. Tournament Director Jason Draughn expressed gratitude to sponsors and teams, including South Walton, Pelagic, Galati Yacht Sales, and MarineMax, for making the event a summertime tradition. The tournament features over $2 million in cash and prizes, attracting top-tier teams from the Gulf Coast and beyond. Competitors aim to catch the largest blue marlin, which must measure at least 110 inches from the lower jaw to the tail fork to qualify. Past winners have caught marlins weighing over 650 pounds. In addition to the blue marlin division, the tournament includes catch-and-release categories for blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, and spearfish, as well as weighed competitions for tuna, wahoo, and dolphin (mahi-mahi), scored at one point per pound.
The event begins at noon on Thursday from the Destin Pass, with the main spectacle occurring each evening at Baytowne Marina. Official weigh-ins on Friday and Saturday nights attract thousands of spectators who cheer as massive catches are hoisted on stage. The atmosphere is lively, with live music, vendor exhibitions, and fireworks on Friday night. The ECBC is a qualifying event for the Florida Panhandle Billfish Series, InTheBite’s Captain of the Year Program, and the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship. Teams registering by May 31, 2025, will be entered into a drawing to win $1,000 and complimentary dockage at Baytowne Marina during the tournament week. The fan-favorite ECBC Golf Scramble, sponsored by Hancock Whitney Bank and Tito’s Handmade Vodka, returns on Wednesday, June 18. Open to tournament anglers and sponsors, this friendly competition requires pre-registration, with entry fees payable in cash.
April Sarver, Director of Marketing and Communications at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, expressed pride in hosting such a prestigious tournament that combines world-class sportfishing with coastal camaraderie. She emphasized that whether participants are there to fish or enjoy the excitement, it is a weekend not to be missed. For full tournament details, registration, dockage, and the complete schedule of events, interested parties can visit the official website.
