Between Blue Mountain Beach and Seaside, Grayton Beach rubs elbows with a state park! Yep. Grayton Beach is bordered on three sides by Grayton Beach State Park. This prime location, along with nearby Western Lake, makes it a nature lovers magnet. Plus, it’s the only spot where local fishing guides can beach-launch, allowing you to hop on a fishing charter straight from the sand. How cool is that?

At the turn of the century, Grayton Beach was vying to be the go-to vacation spot for families from Northwest Florida and Alabama. But the journey was a challenge. No bridges over the Choctawhatchee River! And only sandy trails!
In 1913, W.H. Butler and his son, Van, made the trek from DeFuniak Springs and became the village’s biggest champions. Originally from the Midwest, W.H. was eyeing a resort at Phillips Inlet but found Grayton Beach’s land for half the price. So, he bought most of what is now Grayton Beach. Sweet buy!

Shacks Art Grayton Beach is a vibrant, artist-run gallery that showcases the work of over 50 artists. It features a collection of artwork, handcrafted jewelry, quality crafts, and more. The gallery also hosts artist workshops, exhibitions, and other events. Shacks Art is located at the Mystic Porte Shops, just north of Scenic 30A on Hwy 283, next to Shops of Grayton.
