Santa Rosa Beach encompasses an area that’s a bit more difficult to define than the more traditional 30A beach communities. To some, it represents the heart of all things 30A. But geographically, it covers a huge stretch from Choctawhatchee Bay in the north to the Gulf of Mexico in the south, reaching from Miramar Beach in the west to Seagrove Beach in the east. Big!
LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.
In the early 1900s, Charles Cessna fell in love with the area during his honeymoon and envisioned it as an agricultural hub. By 1910, Hogtown Bayou was alive with sugarcane fields, schools, and churches, attracting newcomers from far and wide. But not everyone got along (locals vs. newcomers, anyone?).
But the good times were short-lived. A yellow fever outbreak and a hurricane in 1926 nearly wiped the town off the map by World War II. Fortunately, by the mid-40s, Santa Rosa Beach began to rise again, proving that comebacks are always possible. Thank goodness!

This event aims to honor the courageous individuals who serve the community daily. In collaboration with the Small Business Council, the event promises a family-friendly atmosphere filled with food, entertainment, and gratitude. Highlights include smoked pulled pork, a crawfish boil, hot dogs for children, live entertainment, raffle giveaways for first responders, kids' activities such as face painting and games, and exhibits and vehicle displays by first responders. Admission is free for all first responders and their families. Businesses and individuals are invited to sponsor the event for $500, which includes logo placement on the Chamber website, recognition on social media and in the Chamber newsletter, logo on the event t-shirt, two complimentary event tickets, and two event t-shirts. Sponsorship will help provide a token of appreciation to the responders who ensure community safety. Further details about tickets and event plans will be shared soon, aiming to create a memorable celebration for these everyday heroes.

The Walton Area Chamber is organizing the inaugural First Responders Appreciation Bash on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at North Beach Social, West Lawn. This event aims to honor the courageous individuals who serve the community daily. In collaboration with the Small Business Council, the event promises a family-friendly atmosphere filled with food, entertainment, and gratitude. Highlights include smoked pulled pork, a crawfish boil, hot dogs for children, live entertainment, raffle giveaways for first responders, kids’ activities such as face painting and games, and exhibits and vehicle displays by first responders. Admission is free for all first responders and their families.
Businesses and individuals are invited to sponsor the event for $500, which includes logo placement on the Chamber website, recognition on social media and in the Chamber newsletter, logo on the event t-shirt, two complimentary event tickets, and two event t-shirts. Sponsorship will help provide a token of appreciation to the responders who ensure community safety. Further details about tickets and event plans will be shared soon, aiming to create a memorable celebration for these everyday heroes.
