The Wildlife Specials are an Americana and Rock N’ Roll band based in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. The band members possess over 50 years of combined experience from touring, recording, and songwriting. The group formed for the 30a Songwriters Festival in 2011, taking their name from a roadside food vendor in NOLA. The group was founded by Amy Walsh a year ago with the goal of creating an environment for women to discuss their experiences, fears, concerns, and needs while Fore Her offers resources. It is open to anyone affected by breast cancer. Walsh initially stated her desire to bring patients and survivors together to share, advise, listen, and learn about local resources for help and hope. The group continues to meet at the Coastal Branch Library in Santa Rosa Beach at 9:00 a.m. Resource pamphlets and books, including autobiographic and self-help/inspirational titles, are provided free of charge. Attendees share their stories of diagnosis and discuss various treatments such as surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and long-term medications, fostering supportive friendships with empathy, hugs, and tears.

After having shared the stage and studio with musicians such as Darryl Jones and Bernard Fowler of the Rolling Stones, Widespread Panic, Bob Margolin, Hubert Sumlin, Johnny Shines, Willy Green, Daniel Lanois, and Zac Brown, they formed The Wildlife Specials in Santa Rosa Beach for the 30a Songwriters Festival in 2011. The band was named after a roadside food vendor in NOLA. With songs as diverse as their experiences, The Wildlife Specials are known for engaging audience banter alongside music that is easily memorable, following their belief: “If you can’t whistle it, it ain’t music.”

Sunday Pickin’ at The Bay features Mike Whitty and friends playing from 4-8 PM every Sunday. Mr. Whitty invites different musicians each week. The musicians are typically announced by Saturday, and details are available on The Bay’s social media pages.

Zumba Gold, led by certified instructor Lily Hubbard, is a community-based class meeting at the Coastal Library on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. in the meeting space. Class size is limited and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The Coastal Library Journal Writing Group meets on Mondays at 11:30 am. Participants are invited to bring a journal and pen for a session dedicated to gentle reflection, healing, and reconnecting with one's authentic self to discover inner wisdom. No prior writing experience is necessary; only a willingness to participate with an open heart. The group welcomes both beginners and experienced journal writers to explore topics such as journaling one's memoir, using tools for self-discovery, and sparking creativity.
