Park Ranger-Guided Nature Hike
Camp Helen State Park encourages visitors to enhance their experience by participating in a nature hike led by the Park Ranger staff. This event takes place on the first Thursday of each month at 10 AM. Participants have the opportunity to explore the park’s accessible trail system while learning about the diverse flora, fauna, and the broader ecosystem of the Florida Panhandle. The hike is designed to accommodate all experience levels and requires a moderate level of endurance.
Sat, December 7
History Tour
The program is complimentary with a park entry fee of $4 per vehicle. Visitors are invited to join the park ranger staff for a guided history tour at Camp Helen. During the tour, the staff will share the park’s history, starting from the Hicks family, who constructed the historic buildings still present on the grounds, to the vibrant history of Avondale Textile Mill, which used the property as a summer retreat for its employees. Participants are advised to dress appropriately for the weather and to bring water and insect repellent.
