I owe you an apology.
Remember when I wrote that ‘Dear John’ letter to you, declaring my newfound love for fall? (see ‘Dear Summer’ blog)
Well, I’m sorry. Because now, as I gaze outside at my frozen bird bath, I find myself yearning for you once again.
If you can forgive me, I promise to remind the world what makes you, a 30A Summer, so very, very special.
Please take me back!
I miss our sizzling days together, lounging by the beach, indulging in fresh shrimp and oysters at Shunk Gulley, sipping on refreshing drinks while the sun sets in the distance. And let’s not forget the ease of strolling across the street to the Ed Walline public beach access – nobody does convenience quite like you, 30A Summer!
We’ve had our moments.
Remember the kids playing in three different swimming pools? Those long sunlit hours seemed to stretch forever. My hard drive still has hundreds of pics of you showing off. I couldn’t keep my eyes off you 30A Summer, nor could anybody else. Your sunsets are on another level.
Sure, I was momentarily smitten.
But it didn’t take me long to recognize where my true affections lie – with you, 30A Summer. Our strolls along the serene, untouched (development-free!) three-mile stretch of beach at Topsail Hill Preserve were legendary. This protected slice of paradise was a fantastic way to experience a quieter summer beach experience.
Let’s keep our romance strong, 30A Summer.
As I seek your forgiveness, I want to share a little secret that has made our time together even more enjoyable: Bikes and shuttles!
Go farther and faster on an e-bike, and cruise along all 19 miles of the 30A bike path (aka the Timpoochee Trail). As you pass through all of the famous beach communities, from Dune Allen in the west to Seacrest and Alys Beach in the east, make a few pit stops to enjoy the sights. A total blast!
Yes, a convenient shuttle has made exploring Seaside and Grayton Beach a breeze, allowing me to focus on soaking up every precious moment with you, 30A Summer.
The “Grayton Central” lot across from the Hurricane Oyster Bar has convenient parking. From here, the shuttle offers free pick-up and drop-off to Seaside, an 8-minute trip.
A shuttle also makes trips down to Red’s Bar, The Zoo Gallery, and other restaurants and shops in the unique neighborhood, on its way to… the beach! Shuttles run daily from 6 a.m. to midnight, every 15 minutes, or as needed.
Still not convinced, 30A Summer?
