WHY THESE RETREATS MATTER SO MUCH.
Lighthouse Family Retreat is a faith-based nonprofit with a big heart and a beautiful mission: serving families living through childhood cancer. They host seaside retreats that offer rest, play, and a much-needed pause from hospital visits and tough conversations.
Parents get to exhale. Siblings get to be silly. And the kids facing cancer? They get to just be kids.
Beyond the retreats, Lighthouse sticks around with community support, helpful resources, and a whole lot of encouragement. Because when cancer hits, families need more than a moment. They need a team.
WHY OVERSEE SAID “WE’RE IN!”
For Oversee co-founder Michael B. Emerick, the Lighthouse mission hits close to home. Years ago, he faced his own cancer diagnosis and came out the other side with a deep understanding of how tough the journey can be.
That experience lit a fire in him to give back. When he learned about Lighthouse, it felt like the perfect match: real homes offering real rest for families who rarely get to rest at all.
We knew we had to be part of it.

A break from reality can feel like a miracle. For these families, a few days without beeping machines, anxious waiting rooms, or cancer talk is more than just a change of scenery, it’s a reset.
