The SOWAL Comedy Fest, formerly known as the Sand Up Comedy Fest, is scheduled to return over Valentine’s weekend in 2026, running from Thursday, February 12th through Saturday, February 14th. This event will bring three days of high-quality stand-up comedy to South Walton, Florida (30A). It is being promoted as an ideal romantic getaway, featuring intimate rooms and capped attendance for unforgettable nights. Given that the previous two years have resulted in sold-out crowds and nights, early ticket purchase is strongly recommended. For the first time, every show will offer reserved seating by selection, allowing guests to choose their preferred view, whether they desire the front-row energy, center-room immersion, or a quieter corner with friends.
The 2026 headliners include Peter Wong from New York, featured on Comedy Central and Nate Bargatze’s Nateland, returning for his third year; Anjelica Scannura from New York, who recently won Just For Laughs’ “New Face of Stand-Up” and is the first Canadian woman to win the Boston Comedy Festival; and Carter Deems from Atlanta, an alum of MTV’s Wild ’N Out with writing credits for Epic Rap Battles of History and Drop The Mic. Shows are scheduled across all three nights with two showtimes, 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., at each venue.
The festival will utilize three venues. SOWAL House offers an intimate and welcoming setting in the heart of South Walton’s cultural scene, designed for up-close stand-up. Wild Olives, located at 30A’s Greenway Station, provides a vibrant, stylish atmosphere with a full bar and food options. Distillery 98 is noted for craft cocktails and a lively event vibe, also featuring tours, local art, and live programming.
The festival serves a greater purpose, as support and sponsorships benefit the SOWAL Foundation (SOFO), a nonprofit organization committed to empowering and uplifting local creatives. Beyond the festival, SOFO hosts regular programming at SOWAL House, including film screenings, poetry gatherings, and art exhibitions/creative meetups, with special events held monthly.
Tickets for the event are currently on sale and can be purchased by date, venue, or headliner. Further details and show information are available on the festival’s official website.

Foster Gallery Outreach Special Exhibit: Retro Americana
The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) is inviting current CAA member artists to submit up to three original works for an upcoming Foster Gallery Outreach Special Exhibit at Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) in Grand Boulevard Town Center. This special themed exhibition will be on view in the ECTC lobby from February 3 through June 5, 2026. The exhibit is designed to complement ECTC’s Season 13 productions, *Forever Plaid* and *Mystic Pizza*, aiming to create an immersive cultural experience that celebrates nostalgia, music, and Americana storytelling.
The theme for the exhibit is “Retro Americana”—a visual celebration of classic American culture. Artists are encouraged to submit original works inspired by this theme, exploring subjects such as diners and jukeboxes, classic cars, small-town life, vintage fashion, pop culture icons, and the feeling of the “good old days.” Submissions may also reflect on themes like memory, nostalgia versus reality, and reinterpretations of old photographs.
The Foster Gallery was established by the CAA in 2016 to honor founder, artist, and educator Susan Foster, and has served as a platform for showcasing local and regional artists. As the program has grown, the CAA has evolved The Foster Gallery into a Visual Arts Outreach Program, bringing art into public and community-centered spaces throughout Walton County. This outreach model offers artists increased visibility and opportunities to exhibit and sell their work, connecting them with broader and more diverse audiences beyond a single gallery location. The special exhibit at ECTC continues this mission by pairing visual art with live performance in a unique, cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The exhibit location is Emerald Coast Theatre Company at 560 Grand Blvd., Ste 200 Upstairs, Miramar Beach, FL 32550. Artists are not required to work at the host location, but they must be current members of the CAA (members do not have to be local). Information on joining the CAA is available online.
The timeline for the exhibit is as follows: The call to artists runs from December 5, 2025, to January 20, 2026. Artists will be notified on January 23, 2026. Art delivery to ECTC is scheduled for January 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit opens on February 3, 2026, with an Artist Reception on February 12, 2026, from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The exhibit ends on June 5, 2026. Mandatory art pick-up is scheduled for June 5 or 9, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The CAA encourages artists to showcase their unique creations and celebrate the diverse talents of the creative community through this opportunity. Artists must study the criteria and submit an application online prior to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
