Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) is opening its 13th season with the Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. The show runs from September 18 through October 12 at ECTC’s stage in Grand Boulevard Town Center.
The musical explores Carole King’s journey from a teenage songwriter to a world-renowned performer. Audiences will hear classics such as “You’ve Got a Friend,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” and “Beautiful.”
ECTC Producing Artistic Director Nathanael Fisher stated that “Carole King’s music has been the soundtrack to so many lives, and her story is one of courage, creativity, and determination.” He added that “Beautiful is more than a concert of hit songs, it’s an uplifting journey that reminds us how art can shape who we are and connect us to one another.”
Performances are on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00 p.m., and on Sundays and Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. at ECTC’s theater, located upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard, Suite 200 in Grand Boulevard Town Center. Guests can arrive early for pre-show drinks in the lobby and lounge, which displays artwork by local artists sponsored by Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County.
The production is directed by Nathanael Fisher with Assistant Director Trenton Bainbridge. The creative team includes Set & Lighting Designer Rebeca Lake, Choreographer Emily Bainbridge, Music Director Tom Baroco, Costume Designer Taylor Walker, Sound Engineer Gavin Young, and Properties & Assistant Stage Manager Ora Wolfgram. Cailey Mize is the Stage Manager. The cast features Bella Burke as Carole King, Zach Spafford as Gerry Goffin, Mikayla House Pillstrom as Cynthia Weil, Zach Ryan as Barry Mann, Chris Saltalamacchio as Don Kirschner, and Darla Briganti as Genie Klein. Maxwell Dennis plays Neil Sedaka, a Righteous Brother, and is in the Ensemble. Calum Sullivan plays Nick, a Righteous Brother, and is an Ensemble member. Halee Inez Terry plays Betty, Marilyn Wald, and Ensemble roles. Terrance McQueen, Zerrick Grant, Octavian Lewis, and Zamar Malik Griffin play Drifters and Ensemble members. Ariana Chanell Ellis, Rajah Pound, Varyssa Henderson, and Milan Loreal play the Shirelles.
