Intro to Wheel Throwing
A pottery instructor, Jaweria Rizvi, is offering a five-week course on the foundational skills of Wheel Throwing. Participants will learn how to wedge clay, the basics of throwing, tips and techniques for glazing, and how to use different tools in the studio. This class includes a 25 lb bag of clay for experimentation. After completing the course, participants can utilize the open studio for wheel throwing. More details on the open studio are available upon request.
The course consists of 6 classes total, meeting from 5:30-7:30 pm. Week one includes two back-to-back classes on Tuesday, September 23, and Wednesday, September 24. All subsequent weeks will meet on Tuesdays only, specifically September 30, October 7, October 14, and October 21.
Registration for the course is open until Sunday, September 21. The class is for ages 18 and up. The cost is $290 for members and $300 for non-members.
The refund policy states that all classes, workshops, and series offered by the Center for the Arts are non-refundable. Refunds are typically only issued in unforeseeable circumstances involving the instructor or facility. If a participant is sick and cancels, they may receive a partial refund for the class, excluding instructor fees, for the missed sessions, at the discretion of the Center for the Arts. The Center for the Arts will contact participants if a refund is to be issued. Questions regarding this policy can be directed to them via email.

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) is launching its 13th season with “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.” This Tony and Grammy Award-winning production will run from September 18 to October 12 at ECTC’s stage in Grand Boulevard Town Center.
The musical explores Carole King’s journey from a teenage songwriter to a renowned performer. Audiences will hear classics such as “You’ve Got a Friend,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” and “Beautiful.” ECTC Producing Artistic Director Nathanael Fisher describes the show as an uplifting journey that highlights art’s ability to shape and connect individuals.
Performances are scheduled for Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:00 p.m., and Sundays and Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. at ECTC’s theatre, located upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard, Suite 200 in Grand Boulevard Town Center. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy pre-show drinks in the lobby, which features artwork by local artists, sponsored by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County.
The production is directed by Nathanael Fisher, with Trenton Bainbridge as Assistant Director. The creative team includes Set & Lighting Designer Rebeca Lake, Choreographer Emily Bainbridge, Music Director Tom Baroco, Costume Designer Taylor Walker, Sound Engineer Gavin Young, and Properties & Assistant Stage Manager Ora Wolfgram. Intro to Wheel Throwing

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) is set to launch its 13th season with “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.” This Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning production will run from September 18 to October 12 at ECTC’s stage in Grand Boulevard Town Center.
The musical explores the journey of Carole King, a renowned singer-songwriter. It chronicles her career from a teenage songwriter creating hits for 1960s artists to her emergence as a global performer whose music defined a generation. Audiences can anticipate hearing classic songs like “You’ve Got a Friend,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” and “Beautiful.”
ECTC Producing Artistic Director Nathanael Fisher commented on the production, stating that Carole King’s music has influenced many lives and that her story exemplifies courage, creativity, and determination. Fisher emphasized that “Beautiful” transcends a mere concert of hit songs; it is an inspiring narrative illustrating how art can shape individuals and foster connections.
Performances are scheduled for Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:00 p.m., as well as Sundays and Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. The theatre is located upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard, Suite 200 in Grand Boulevard Town Center. Students learn about Ryan’s life and struggles with bullying and depression, the impact of words and exclusion, cyberbullying, digital responsibility, kindness, and the importance of speaking up. They are encouraged to treat everyone with dignity and compassion.

Beyond the lake, members will have opportunities to share paddle adventures and organize gatherings across Walton County’s nearby springs, creeks, bay, and Gulf waters.

Intro to Wheel Throwing
A five-week wheel throwing course is being offered by pottery instructor Jaweria Rizvi. Participants will learn foundational skills, including wedging clay, basic throwing techniques, glazing tips, and tool usage. The class includes a 25 lb bag of clay. Upon completion, students can access the open studio for wheel throwing.
The course consists of six classes, each lasting from 5:30-7:30 pm. The first week has back-to-back sessions on Tuesday, September 23, and Wednesday, September 24. Subsequent classes will be held on Tuesdays only, specifically September 30, October 7, October 14, and October 21. The sign-up deadline is Sunday, September 21.
This course is for individuals aged 18 and up. The cost is $290 for members and $300 for non-members.
Regarding the refund policy, all classes, workshops, and series offered by the Center for the Arts are non-refundable. Refunds are typically only issued in unforeseen circumstances involving the instructor or facility. If a participant must cancel due to illness, a partial refund, excluding instructor fees, may be provided for the missed sessions, at the discretion of the Center for the Arts.
