Foster Gallery Outreach Special Exhibit: Retro Americana
The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) is inviting its current member artists to submit up to three original works for an upcoming Foster Gallery Outreach Special Exhibit. This exhibit will be held at the Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) in Grand Boulevard Town Center.
This special themed exhibition is scheduled to be on view in the ECTC lobby from February 3 through June 5, 2026. It is specifically designed to complement ECTC’s Season 13 productions, “Forever Plaid” and “Mystic Pizza.” The combination of the exhibit and the performances aims to create an immersive cultural experience that celebrates nostalgia, music, and Americana storytelling.
The theme for the exhibit is “Retro Americana.” Artists are encouraged to submit original works inspired by this theme, which is described as a visual celebration of classic American culture. Submissions may explore subjects such as diners and jukeboxes, classic cars, small-town life, vintage fashion, pop culture icons, and the feeling of the “good old days.” The works may also reflect on themes like memory, nostalgia versus reality, and reinterpretations of old photographs.
About The Foster Gallery: Established by the CAA in 2016, The Foster Gallery honors its founder, artist, and educator Susan Foster, and has historically showcased local and regional artists. As the program expanded, the CAA transformed The Foster Gallery into a Visual Arts Outreach Program, bringing art into various public and community-centered spaces throughout Walton County. This outreach model offers artists increased visibility and opportunities to exhibit and sell their work, connecting them with broader and more diverse audiences beyond a single gallery location. This special exhibit at ECTC continues this mission by pairing visual art with live performance, fostering a unique, cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The exhibit location is the Emerald Coast Theatre Company at 560 Grand Blvd., Ste 200 Upstairs, Miramar Beach, FL 32550.
Regarding how the submission process works, artists are not required to work at the host location, but they must be current CAA members; local residency is not a requirement for membership.
The timeline for the exhibition is as follows: The call to artists runs from December 5, 2025, to January 20, 2026. Artist notifications will be sent on January 23, 2026. Art delivery to ECTC is scheduled for January 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit opens on February 3, 2026. An Artist Reception is planned for February 12, 2026, from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The exhibit ends on June 5, 2026. Mandatory art pick-up dates are June 5 or 9, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The organizers look forward to seeing the unique creations and celebrating the diverse talents of the creative community, noting that this is an opportunity for artists to showcase their work and connect with fellow artists and art enthusiasts.
To apply, artists must study the criteria and submit an application online prior to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Foster Gallery Outreach Special Exhibit: Retro Americana
The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) is inviting its current member artists to submit up to three original works for an upcoming Foster Gallery Outreach Special Exhibit. This exhibition will be held at the Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) in Grand Boulevard Town Center.
The special themed exhibition, which is entitled “Retro Americana,” will be on display in the ECTC lobby from February 3 through June 5, 2026. It is specifically designed to complement ECTC’s Season 13 productions, “Forever Plaid” and “Mystic Pizza.” The exhibit and performances aim to create an immersive cultural experience that celebrates nostalgia, music, and Americana storytelling.
Artists are encouraged to submit original works inspired by “Retro Americana”—a visual celebration of classic American culture. Submissions may explore themes such as diners and jukeboxes, classic cars, small-town life, vintage fashion, pop culture icons, and the feeling of the “good old days.” Artists can also reflect on deeper themes such as memory, nostalgia versus reality, and reinterpretations of old photographs.
Established by the CAA in 2016, The Foster Gallery honors founder, artist, and educator Susan Foster. It has historically served as a platform for showcasing local and regional artists. As the program has grown, the CAA has evolved The Foster Gallery into a Visual Arts Outreach Program, bringing art into public and community-centered spaces throughout Walton County. This outreach model provides artists with increased visibility and opportunities to exhibit and sell their work, connecting with broader and more diverse audiences beyond a single gallery location. This special exhibit at ECTC continues that mission by pairing visual art with live performance and inviting artists to participate in a unique, cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The exhibit location is the Emerald Coast Theatre Company at 560 Grand Blvd., Ste 200 Upstairs, Miramar Beach, FL 32550. Artists are not required to work at the host location, but they must be current members of the CAA (membership is not restricted to local residents).
The timeline for submissions is as follows: The call to artists is from December 5, 2025, to January 20, 2026. Artist notifications will be sent on January 23, 2026. Art delivery to ECTC is scheduled for January 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit opens on February 3, 2026, with an Artist Reception on February 12, 2026, from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The exhibit ends on June 5, 2026. Mandatory art pick-up dates are June 5 or 9, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The CAA looks forward to viewing the unique creations and celebrating the diverse talents of the creative community, noting this is an opportunity for artists to showcase their work and connect with fellow artists and art enthusiasts. The 2026 headliners include Peter Wong (New York, NY), who is featured on Comedy Central and Nate Bargatze’s Nateland and is returning for his third year. Anjelica Scannura (New York, NY), recently awarded Just For Laughs “New Face of Stand-Up” and the first Canadian woman to win the Boston Comedy Festival, will also be performing. The lineup is completed by Carter Deems (Atlanta, GA), an MTV’s Wild ’N Out alum with writing credits for shows including Epic Rap Battles of History and Drop The Mic. Shows are scheduled across all three nights with two showtimes, 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., at each venue.
The featured venues include SOWAL House, an intimate and welcoming room at the heart of South Walton’s cultural scene, designed for up-close stand-up. Wild Olives, located at 30A’s Greenway Station, offers a vibrant, stylish atmosphere with a full bar and food options. Lastly, Distillery 98 is known for craft cocktails and a lively event vibe, offering tours, local art, and live programming.
The festival serves a purpose by supporting and benefiting the SOWAL Foundation (SOFO), a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting local creatives.
The special themed exhibition, titled “Retro Americana,” will be displayed in the ECTC lobby from February 3 through June 5, 2026. It is designed to complement ECTC’s Season 13 productions, Forever Plaid and Mystic Pizza, creating an immersive cultural experience that celebrates nostalgia, music, and Americana storytelling. Artists are encouraged to submit original works inspired by “Retro Americana,” which is defined as a visual celebration of classic American culture. Submissions can explore themes like diners, jukeboxes, classic cars, small-town life, vintage fashion, pop culture icons, and the feeling of the “good old days,” while also reflecting on memory, nostalgia versus reality, and reinterpretations of old photographs.
Established by the CAA in 2016, The Foster Gallery honors founder, artist, and educator Susan Foster and serves as a platform for showcasing local and regional artists. As the program grew, the CAA evolved The Foster Gallery into a Visual Arts Outreach Program, bringing art into public and community-centered spaces throughout Walton County. This outreach model offers artists increased visibility and opportunities to exhibit and sell their work, connecting them with broader and more diverse audiences beyond a single gallery location. The special exhibit at ECTC continues this mission by pairing visual art with live performance, inviting artists to be part of a unique, cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The exhibit location is Emerald Coast Theatre Company at 560 Grand Blvd., Ste 200 Upstairs, Miramar Beach, FL 32550. Artists are not required to work at the host location, but they must be current members of the CAA (membership does not have to be local). Information on joining is available online.
The timeline for the exhibit is as follows: The call to artists is from December 5, 2025, to January 20, 2026. Artists will be notified on January 23, 2026. Art delivery to ECTC is scheduled for January 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit opens on February 3, 2026, and an Artist Reception will be held on February 12, 2026, from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. The exhibit ends on June 5, 2026. Mandatory art pick-up is scheduled for June 5 or 9, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The CAA looks forward to seeing the unique creations and celebrating the diverse talents of the creative community, noting that this is an opportunity for artists to showcase their work and connect with fellow artists and art enthusiasts. To apply, artists must study the criteria and submit an application online prior to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

This special themed exhibition will be on view in the ECTC lobby from February 3 through June 5, 2026. The exhibit is designed to complement ECTC’s Season 13 productions, *Forever Plaid* and *Mystic Pizza*, aiming to create an immersive cultural experience that celebrates nostalgia, music, and Americana storytelling.
The theme for the exhibit is “Retro Americana”—a visual celebration of classic American culture. Artists are encouraged to submit original works inspired by this theme, exploring subjects such as diners and jukeboxes, classic cars, small-town life, vintage fashion, pop culture icons, and the feeling of the “good old days.” Submissions may also reflect on themes like memory, nostalgia versus reality, and reinterpretations of old photographs.

This outreach model offers artists increased visibility and opportunities to exhibit and sell their work, connecting them with broader and more diverse audiences beyond a single gallery location. The special exhibit at ECTC continues this mission by pairing visual art with live performance in a unique, cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The exhibit location is Emerald Coast Theatre Company at 560 Grand Blvd., Ste 200 Upstairs, Miramar Beach, FL 32550. Artists are not required to work at the host location, but they must be current members of the CAA (members do not have to be local). Information on joining the CAA is available online.
The timeline for the exhibit is as follows: The call to artists runs from December 5, 2025, to January 20, 2026. Artists will be notified on January 23, 2026.
